Universal Studios Heats Up with Sizzling Summer Concert Series

Universal Orlando Resort presents a hot line-up of acts during its Summer Concert Series, featuring six hit artists playing Saturday nights from June 11-July 16.

This annual event is a popular way to experience the thrills and entertainment of Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, while also enjoying live performances by some of today’s hottest acts. Plus, the Summer Concert Series is included with your Universal Studios tickets, making it a great way to play this summer.

The full line-up of artists includes:

June 11: The Go-Go’s

June 18: Nelly

June 25: Third Eye Blind

July 2: Trey Songz

July 9: Boys Like Girls

July 16: Drake

All performances take place at Music Plaza in Universal Studios. Music Plaza features a 2,400 square foot performance stage, a 15,000 square foot viewing lawn and two 20 foot tall projection screens. All shows start at 9pm.

Sounds Like Summer Concert Series Returns to Disney World Orlando

Disney World in Orlando Florida is hosting their annual Sounds Like Summer Concert Series June 12 – July 30, 2011. This exciting entertainment event features some of the world’s greatest tribute bands and is FREE with the purchase of Disney tickets.

The Sounds Like Summer Concert Series is located at Epcot, at the open-air America Gardens Theatre in World Showcase.

3D Star Tours Ride Set to Debut at Disney's Hollywood Studios May 20

The new 3D Star Tours ride is set to debut at Disney Hollywood Studios at Disney World in Orlando on May 20. New details have recently been released regarding the highly anticipated attraction.

The theme for the ride is set between Star Wars movies three and four. Star Tours will take riders to multiple destinations, where they will meet character from throughout the Saga. Guests will be immersed in the Star Wars Galaxy, thanks to digital filming, a dramatic musical score and motion-simulator technology. Plus, the attractions offers guests the opportunity to have a new experience each time they ride Star Tours as there are over 54 different story combination possible aboard the new ride.

Star Tours also has a unique queue, part of Disney’s efforts to entertain guests throughout their park experience. The queue resembles a spaceport, complete with C-3PO and the R2-D2, who will greet guests. After trekking through the spaceport, guests board the Starspeeder 1000 spacecraft and prepare for flight. The plot of the attraction finds C-3PO, accidently, in the pilot’s seat as he and R2-D2 take the controls and try to outwit and outrun the evil Empire.

During the 3D ride, guests will visit planets made famous by the Star Wars films and they can also visit the forests of the Wookie planet Kashyyyk, the deserts of Tatooine, the deep waters of Naboo and the blizzards of Hoth. Yoda, Admiral Ackbar, Darth Vadar and Boba Fett are also featured during the attraction.

Gaylord Palms Announces New Dreamworks Experience

Gaylord Palms Hotel in Orlando has teamed up with Dreamworks Animation to bring some of their best known characters in to meet hotel guests. The resort is calling it the Dreamworks Experience and they plan to bring several unique experiences to their hotel guests.

The live interactive experiences will include character breakfasts, newly themed Christmastime events, poolside activities in the summer, food and beverage offering, private birthday parties, parades, merchandise and various themed entertainment. Live appearances from characters like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and characters from Madagascar are planned, as well as other future films and characters.

Gaylord Palms has been known as a business hotel for years, and this expansion with Dreamworks is part of an initiative to appeal to their leisure groups as well. The Dreamworks characters will be integrated into the resort in various ways, and the experience is expected to debut at all four Gaylord resorts in November, as part of their Christmastime programs.

Disney World Hosts New Rock Band at Epcot, Car Masters Weekend at Downtown Disney

Disney’s Epcot Theme Park has long been the home of The Beatles inspired band, The British Invasion. After more than 15 years, the band is ending their run at the United Kingdom pavilion. Their last performance took place over the weekend, on April 30. The replacement band will be a yet-unnamed rock band that will perform hits from decades of popular British music, including music from Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles and the Dave Clark Five. Their show beings tomorrow, May 3.

Downtown Disney is hosting a special Downtown Disney Car Masters Weekend May 13-15. Fans will get the opportunity to not only see classic cars, but also meet some of the character cars from the upcoming movie Cars 2. Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and new spy car, Finn McMissile, will be available for photos. Cars-related games, a video kiosk and e-photos will also be available. Plus, the AMC movie theater at Downtown Disney will show the original Cars movie all weekend and RideMakerz will be selling the new Cars 2 models.
