Performers Dan Meyer and Will Rotten will perform, with their show starting at 1:30pm building to an official swallow at 2:25pm. Ripley’s venues across the globe, including location in Branson, MO; Gatlinburg, TN; and St. Augustine FL will also participate.
The event pays homage to sword swallowers but is also a chance to raise funds for esophageal cancer.
Ripley’s is the perfect place to pay tribute to sword swallowing as the first Ripley’s Believe It or Not, located at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1933, featured sword swallowers.
The attraction is also extending its exhibit of the famed fertility statues acquired from the Ivory Coast. The number of people who claim the statues have helped them get pregnant is almost 3,000.
